Women's jeans that have Lycra or Spandex fibers mixed with the cotton denim fibers may shrink after washing even if they are pre-shrunk because the washing process destroys the Lycra and Spandex fibers over time which makes it impossible for the jeans to stretch back to the shape they used to be. Usually the first thing people do is wonder if they've gained weight. Sometimes that might be the reason for shrinkage but not always.
