Just like most jeans, the heavy-duty cotton material is not exactly great for lots of stretching and moving. Trust me, I am not affiliated with this company but it is an amazing tool for many different applications. It is a high speed, ,low torque drill that has many different attachments for grinding. These attachments are important because these let you customize how your jeans will look. You can use anything that is a substitute of this tool as well, but a Dremel is the industry standard. With this tool I will take you through the steps to make the most fashionable jeans that cannot be bought for any price. Go around the edge of the back pockets to give them a worn feel. Make any distresses around the back that you may like.

It is important that you remember to be light with you pressure. A Dremel works because it spins so fast. Let the tool do the work. When you are pressing on an open area like the knees, go though until you see the horizontal threads. You can open up more at the knees, but most areas you still want coverage. Also remember to do the edges of the bottom of your jeans. This is very important because any distressed denim is first faded at the bottom of the leg unless it is cropped to a shorter length. The key is to have high impact areas distressed first and then to add the touches that you see fit. This is a great way to save money, have fun and to have clothing that is unique as your style.

Still paying attention to these three pockets, the True Religion embroidery pattern looks like a deep horse shoe with flared ends with large, prominent, silver rivets. But I digress. The point is-a dark wash jean without any serious distressing/destruction treatments will looks crisp and clean. People like that. They respect it. Another solid option is a trouser jean because it resembles a more traditional dressy pant. Its slick lines will look sophisticated, and its wide legs will give a stylish draping effect.

Now since you're going to go casual with your jeans, you want to dress up the rest of the outfit with a feminine blouse or button-down and some cute high-heels or flats. Do not, try to pair your jeans with a t-shirt or sweatshirt and tennis shoes. Those items should *never* be seen in the office.

You don't realise how good the shopping is in Glasgow till you spend a day trekking its streets, if, you have come from anywhere outside of London, you will love what Glasgow has to offer, more shops than anywhere and loads of good streetwear stores, well 3, but still good.

I have decided to list my top 11 shops, the ones I'd visit when out shopping, mention my competition i hear you say, yes, I do say, the more people who realise Glasgow is the No1 shopping destination the better.

1. TK Maxx on Sauchiehall St (top end) is where you'll find bargains if your lucky, if not you'll find nothing of interest, I got a great pair of Brown Leather Air Max for £25 18 months ago, only now starting to fall apart, but the comfiest shoes ever. Also got a great case for when I'm on my travels, snazzy 'lil thing for much cheapness.

2. Next on Bath street is the urban legend that is Fat Buddha, Vinyl Toys, Graffiti Supplies, Lifestyle and Clothing by brands like Carhartt, The Hundreds, Kikstyo, Recon, Penfield, Zoo York, Volcom, Nike, Dc's, Reebok. Voted best shop in Glasgow by an independent panel of my family, but worth the visit, just to see the shop dog Maisie.

3. Goodlife is across the road from Fat Buddha and is uber-expensive but it is Glasgow's only High end Streetwear Boutique after all, selling Original Fake & Alife, good mix of brands in such a small place, but the store has its following, coming from a far for its brand mix.

Not sure the exact story, but it looks like Goodlife has closed its doors.

4 On Buchanan st you'll find this corporate whore that is Urban Outfitters, in sale time there are great bargains to be had, real mix of brands in here, and some of the home-wares are not to be sniffed at, worth a visit.

If you are American or visited one of these stores in America you will be surprised how poor the British version is compared to the American, different brand mix, terrible staff and no atmosphere.

5. Further down Buchanan st you will find Hugo Boss, I love this store, for years now i still like to visit it, great layout and some good product, wonderful suits and boy do they fit like they should. Glasgow's first real designer name on Buchanan St, go visit.

I almost got the managers job in here many many moons ago, but it wasn't to be, lovely shop still.

6. Just round the corner you'll find Aspecto, this lads store, only place for Stussy, and good for Adidas, Carhartt, North Face & Camper, Y3, Evisu and the like. Great shopfit, looked great at the time, so worth a visit.

7. You want trainers, where else to go than Size on Union Street, big store with good range of apparel, the best store in Glasgow for footwear, unless the shoes are rare, then the staff get first shout on them. This is the place for footwear, the 2 Chris's always have a smile for you.

8. Always a sucker for Department stores, and House of Frasers always hits the spot, the cookware dept rocks, Menswear has now relocated to the first floor and a ton of money was spent on it, now it is the BEST mens clothing area in Glasgow by a mile, the Paul Smith section is lovely and again the Paul Smith section is lovely, great wallets and saving up for the scarf just now. Frasers is worth an hour or so of your time, its just of Argyle St.

9. Footlocker, just at Argyle St is where your Jordan craving will be satisfied, good selection of nikes, esp Air Stabs, good range of clothing and a separate woman's floor make this a destination not to be missed. Footlocker is always a must visit place for sneakerheads.

10. Focus are on Argyle St and Glasgows sole Nike SB stockist, other brands include Diamond, Supra, Krew, Cliche. Skateboards are Focus's forte and they serve the Glasgow market well, they have a good reputation now and visit it just for an Obey t/shirt. Good staff and a friendly ambiene make this a worthy addition to my list.

11. Lastly you'll walk round the corner from Focus and find Cruise on Ingram St, a legend in Glasgow and still doing what it does best, feeding brands to the masses, CP Company, Stone Island, Y3, BBC make a visit essential. Lovely Shopfit as well, grab a Paul Smith wallet while your there.

So that wraps up Glasgow for shopping, the best 11 shops, there are hundreds more not on the list, you have St Enoch Shopping Ctr, Buchanan Galleries Shopping Ctr in town, stretch further afield and you'll hit Braehead Shopping Ctr and Silverburn Shopping Ctr.

The more you leave Glasgow, the more you appreciate it, so come eat, shop and be merry.

History of Blue Jeans in America

Many people are aware of the roots that blue jeans have in America. They are a symbol of everything America is supposed to be: free from the status quo. It is nearly impossible to distinguish social and economic status of any individual wearing a pair of them. They are the invention of Jacob Davis, but were made famous by the entrepreneur Loeb Strauss who later changed his name to Levi. On May 7th, 1873 the patent for them was received from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Jacob Davis had invented the riveted pockets of the blue jeans at the pocket's stress points for a customer of his pants. The customer would constantly bother Davis over the holes that developed in his pockets. It was this that gave Jacob the inspiration for the riveted pockets. He did not have the at that time to file a patent, however, and wrote to Strauss offering to file it jointly with him in exchange for Strauss paying the patent filing fee.

Japandrew and Ezekiel soon realized the chemistry was more than a projects worth and bridged the gap to VERTUAL VERTIGO, making Japandrew the new and official DJ of the crew. The crew has been recording and preforming together for the better part of 8 years now and have toured through mulitple countries and almost all of the 50 states. As well as touring VERTUAL VERTIGO has also released many group as well as solo efforts all over the globe. Working with over 6 independent record labels in 6 different countries at the same time, is nothing new to the V's. For the next 25 years while Levi Strauss & Co held the patent rights to blue jeans, they became immensely popular among the working class. They were known for their rugged durability. Right after the exclusive patent rights expired and the invention became public domain, many companies started manufacturing blue jeans. Because in the 19th century they were worn by the working class, they were a symbol of the working man. The wealthier, pampered members of society did not wear blue jeans during this era.

During World War II, blue jeans gained the popularity overseas that they had garnished many years before in America. Foreigners admired the pants worn by American soldiers. The end result was that they were no longer solely American. Europeans and other foreigners could now enjoy the benefits of the rugged denim. Shortly after World War II with jeans now internationally recognized as a durable, comfortable pair of pants, sales skyrocketed.

Jeans were a symbol of rebels during much of the mid-20th century, up until the 1980s. Rebel figures like James Dean in movies wore blue jeans almost exclusively while the older more conservative generation did not. Blue jeans continued their tradition as a symbol of revolution into the 60s and 70s as they were the pants of choice among hippies. Jeans would become more main-stream again in the 1980s.

The 1980s were when designers started creating and labeling their own jeans. It was during this time period that jeans were a symbol of high fashion. Sales for jeans skyrocketed during this decade. They were more accepted at this point than they ever had been. Blue jeans lost popularity in the decade following the 80s as children scoffed at wearing clothing their parents wore. While blue jeans were still worn among kids, they had to be different from the traditional straight down blue denim their parents grew up in. As a result, many jeans manufacturers either had to retool their designs to keep up with the times or face possible bankruptcy.

Blue jeans continue to be worn today and still cloak the status of the wearer. Their ruggedness and durability appeal to both the poor and rich alike. Currently jeans are making a fashion comeback and the traditional jeans manufacturers have fragmented as a result of the past two decades filling various niches. Whatever path blue jeans may take, their roots are entrenched in American soil.
